State Library Victoria hosted Library Up Late as part of Midsumma Festival, celebrating Melbourne’s queer culture from the 1970s to the 1990s. The brief called for a bold, high-impact entrance that would immediately set the tone for the evening.

Using our Hexagon Archway, we created a vibrant, illuminated tunnel that guided guests into the venue and established a strong visual identity from the outset. Inside, additional hero pieces elevated the space, including Large Neon Stars and a Walk-Thru Archway featuring “Library Up Late” across the top, designed to encourage guest interaction and create memorable photo moments.

Neon was also integrated functionally throughout the event. Wayfinding signs such as “Bar” and “Toilets” were great visual tools for guests find their way through the space, while additional hexagon elements were installed along staircases to maintain visual cohesion across multiple levels of the venue. The result was an immersive, unified experience that balanced atmosphere, branding and practicality.
