Neon Playground
Melbourne Zoo, 2019, VIC
Volter International was proud to be part of Melbourne Zoo’s Neon Playground — an extraordinary event celebrating wildlife conservation through captivating light art and immersive experiences. We created a series of custom neon installations highlighting Victoria’s endangered wildlife, each featuring vibrant neon depictions of native animals paired with their names in glowing text.
To ensure the pieces stood out both day and night, we incorporated colourful perspex backings, allowing the neons to shine just as brightly in the daylight. Set against the lush backdrop of the zoo, these installations formed part of Awareness Alley, where guests were welcomed by a spectacular laser show and introduced to 21 nearly extinct animals of South-Eastern Australia.
Neon Playground brought together lights, projections, performances, and interactive art to raise vital funds for wildlife conservation — with proceeds supporting the critically endangered Southern Corroboree Frog. We’re honoured to have contributed to such a meaningful and visually impactful event.
